4th Grade 1st Exam Test Scope -- Fall, 2022

Dear Parents,

The First Monthly Exams are upon us once again.

Below is the exam schedule and test scope.

Please remind your child to go over vocabulary and

reading stories listed in the test scope.

l   Listening ExamWednesday, 10/5

 

l   Oral ExamThursday, 10/6 and Friday, 10/7

 

l   Written Exam: Wednesday, 10/12

LISTENING & ORAL EXAMS:

l   Vocabulary Focus: Week 1 – Week 4

(Communication Book)

l   Reading Street Stories:

l   The Man Who Invented Basketball (p. 28 – 42).

l   Hottest, Coldest, Highest, Deepest (p. 62 – 76)

 

l   Listening Skills: Listen for words in a

sentence; listen and identify pictures;

listen & circle the correct word;

vocabulary words for spellings and

definitions of prefixes, final syllables,

and suffixes.

 

WRITTEN EXAM:

l   Vocabulary Focus: Week 1 – Week 4

(Communication Book)

l   Story Comprehension:

l   The Man Who Invented Basketball (p. 28 – 42).

l   Hottest, Coldest, Highest, Deepest (p. 62 – 76)

 

 

l   Phonics Focus:

l   Irregular Plural Nouns

l   Singular and Plural Pronouns

l   R-controlled vowels

l   Subject and Object Pronouns

NOTE: We are approaching the 1st monthly exams. Test Scopes will be given out later this week.


I hope students can work hard and do well. The start to the semester has been a bit messy and some students are not working to the level required of I1. Remaining in I1 or advancing to A2 is dependent upon performance in tests, in class, and with homework. The students are aware of this.


It may be that some students would do better if they were moved into I2. In the 4th grade the work is a little more difficult, as are the tests. The key consideration will always be - 'what is best for the student.'
