Dear Parents,
Today we learned the consonant patterns wr and kn. We also learned vocabulary words 1 - 5 and read Around One Cactus. Homework is to write vocabulary words 1 - 5 three times and the definitions one time.

Week 17 Vocabulary – Around One Cactus
1. topic: someone or something people talk or write about
2. incredible: great; amazing
3. adapt: to change so that it is easier to live in a particular
place or situation
4. unique: one of a kind; special
5. dune: a hill of sand formed by the wind
6. grip: the act of grabbing or holding something
7. waterless: having no water
8. prickly: having many sharp points
9. arid: very dry; having little rain or water
10. critters: small animals or creatures
11. cozy: small, comfortable and warm
12. sheltered: covered or protected from the outside elements
13. pollen: dust produced by plants carried to other plants by wind or
insects so they can produce seeds
