Dear Parents,
Today in class we learned the sounds /j/, /k/, and /s/. We also learned vocabulary words 1 - 5 and read Seeing Stars.
Homework is to write vocabulary words 1 - 5 three times, definitions one time, and RWN Page 200.
I passed back the tests for Tops and Bottoms. Please not the the tests will not count towards your childs overall school score.

Week 15 Vocabulary – Seeing Stars
telescope: an instrument that uses lenses and sometimes mirrors to make distant objects appear larger
hurl: to throw with force
gigantic: huge: very big
scorch: to burn slightly
stargaze: to look at or study the stars
twinkling: to shine with a light that flickers
pattern: an arrangement of shapes, lines, letters, numbers, or colors that can be repeated or used again and again
constellation: a group of stars in the sky that is thought to look like, and is named after, an animal, object, or person
glimpse: a quick look
invisible: cannot be seen
shine: to give off or reflect light
glitter: sparkling reflected light
distant: far away
fiery: like fire: very hot or red
gas: a form of matter that is neither liquid nor solid
massive: having a lot of mass; very large
whopping: very large; remarkable
brilliant: very shiny and bright; can also mean very good
suburb: an area or community located just outside a city or town
familiar: having some knowledge of
intense: having a great degree of something such as heat
urban: having to do with a city or town
smog: bad air caused by pollution
galaxy: a very large group of stars
