Today in class we did the following:

1) Quiz corrections, prepositions

2) Vocabulary words 1 - 5, A Birthday Basket for Tia.

3) Homework: Write vocabulary words  1 - 5 three times, write the definition one time, fill-in-the-blank worksheet.

This week, due to the Christmas party, we will be having our unit test on Thursday instead of Friday.

Week 16 Short Definitions

A Birthday Basket for Tia

  1. hide (v.): to put something in a place where it cannot be seen or found.

  2. refrigerator (n.): a device that is used to keep things cold.

  3. nap (n.): a short period of sleep during daylight hours.

  4. piñata (n.): a decorated container filled with candies or treats that is hung up at parties.

  5. hum (v.): to sing the notes of a song while keeping your lips closed.

  6. set the table (v. phr.): to arrange plates, etc. for a meal.

  7. make bed (v. phr.): to arrange the sheets and blankets on a bed so that they are tidy.

  8. musician (n.): a person who writes, sings, or plays music.

  9. arrive (n.): to reach a certain place or goal.

  10. rush (n.): a quick, strong, or fast movement.

  11. guitar (n.): a musical instrument with a long neck and usually with six strings which are played with your fingers.

  12. violin (n.): a musical instrument with four strings and is played with a bow.

  13. smell (v.): to sense the odor by using the nose.

  14. pretend (v.): to act as if something is true when it is not true.

  15. cane (n.): a stick that helps someone walk.

  16. dance (v.): to move the body and feet to music.

  17. warm (adj.): having some heat; not cool or cold.

  18. rub (v.): to move something back and forth along the surface of something while pressing.

  19. living room (n.): a room usually with a couch in which people can relax or gather together.

  20. shout (v.): to call out loudly; yell.

  21. teacup (n.): a small cup used for drinking tea.

  22. flowerpot (n.): a container in which plants are grown.
